Anne Martin (Vaden)

Anne Martin (Vaden)

Anne Martin (Vaden) passed away on December 8, 2003 from complications with lymphoma. She was survived by her husband, Steve, four children, Britt, Hannah, Elizabeth and Margaret Anne, parents John and Dixie Martin, sister Kay Martin Pippin and husband Bill, and nephew Grayson. Anne attended South Meck her sophomore and junior years before being bussed to Olympic her senior year. She went on to attend Appalachian State for two years before transferring and graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill. Anne was a registered dental hygienist, working and teaching, in addition to raising a family and being an excellent home maker.
As a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend she touched the lives of many and was a blessing to all of us. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Anne was an active member of First Baptist Church serving in many areas through the years. She loved the water and enjoyed boating, swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. Her trips to St John with Steve, family and friends were some of her fondest memories, as were her trips to the NC mountains with her former ASU classmates. She will be missed but the impact she had on our lives will continue on.

I met Anne through Becky Ward who lived about five houses from her.  Anne was bussed to Olympic and Becky remained at South (there is a story there for the curious).  I caught back up with Anne at ASU before she transfered to UNC for their Dentil Hygenist program.  We next crossed paths again while both employed at Murdock Center in Butner during the shake up deinstitutionalization era of the late 70's.  Anne had a knack for capturing the wonderment of the simplest human interaction AND drawing us into her world.  I loved every one of the handful of conversations we shared and the few times I spent with her wonderful parents, John & Dixie.
